October, 2003 (The Black Hills, South Dakota) -- Throughout these different collections of wildlife photographs, I've been going on and on about how beautiful the Black Hills is. Are. Anyway, here's a look at the land.


Gearhead Notes: Sometimes it's helpful to take a break from shooting (photographing) moving objects and things staring back at you. In the beautiful Black Hills, that's not a prob. There's literally world-class scenery in every direction. The D100 got the nod on all this stuff, as did the fave Nikon 28-70 zoom, and the circular polarizer's always handy. The two shots of Rushmore (above) were taken at sunrise, 15 minutes apart. All I remember is the bad coffee...
