| January, 2004 (South Padre Island, Texas) -- I've had a long-term relationship with South Padre Island that dates back to the late Sixties. I was introduced to the area by an influential person from my shady past, and I've been drawn to the area ever since. However, this specific occasion had more of your classic party tone, with a bunch a conspirators from Austin (and Minneapolis) headed south to spend the weekend with our good friend Winston Logan, play some music as well as a smidge of tennis, and of course take in Super Bowl XXXVIII. And, need I say it? "All seafood, all the time..." |

| Tech Notes: This trip was the last outing for my trusty D1H. I opted to take it to SPI because I've had incidents in the past where I've had saltwater splash over a lens, rendering it useless and, on one trip, even dropped my Pentax in the sand. Not good. Never did get it all out of there. Also, I want to mention the bottom two photographs are obviously not from Padre Island, but were taken on a day trip to Matamoros, Mexico. |
