| These are South Texas wildflowers, shot in Washington County in March of 2005. This is a really unique part of Texas, and because I have many friends who live in this area (the Greater Waller/Magnolia Metroplex), I visit there often, especially in the spring of the year, when the many varieties of wildflowers that grow in the area are in full bloom. Most of these are bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes, and I'll let you do the research on the others. |

| Tech Notes: Unless the wind is blowing, shooting wildflowers isn't much of a challenge unless you're in bright sun, and then you're on your own. I used my D2H, my fave 24-85, and a polarizer on this day. In spite of the closeness to the subjects, which is required, in my opinion, to capture the true color, I didn't use an actual macro/micro lens. Also, I find that a good meal of South Texas Mexican food always gets me in the right frame of mind for communing with nature in this area. See me for specific recommendations. |
