March, 2004 (Yosemite National Park, California -- Yosemite National Park includes over 750,000 acres of scenic wildlands set aside in 1890 to preserve a section of the Sierra Nevada that stretches along the east side of the state of California. With altitudes ranging from 2,000 feet above sea level to more than 13,000 feet, the park encompasses alpine wilderness, groves of giant sequoia trees, and the amazing Yosemite Valley. Visitors can choose from 800 miles of hiking trails in the summer and a variety of options in the winter months, if snow is your thing. It's definitely not mine. That's why I was very pleased to arrive in the valley just as the white fluffy was melting.

Tech Notes: It was all D2H, all the time, on this trip. In addition, I was shooting in both the RAW and JPEG formats (simultaneously), so I had those big files to haul around. And because of the vastness of the park and the distances involved, medium to large telephoto lenses were the order of the day with few exceptions. I used my 80-200 a lot, but also pulled out the 80-400 when shooting mountaintops and such. And now that I'm using the NIK filters, I don't polarize as frequently. But that's just me...
